Public Records

In accordance with the North Carolina General Statutes Chapter 132, "... The public records and public information compiled by the agencies of North Carolina government or its subdivisions are the property of the people. Therefore, it is the policy of this State that the people may obtain copies of their public records and public information free or at minimal cost unless otherwise specifically provided by law." 

The Office of Public Information facilitates the fulfillment of Public Records Requests. A request for Public Records can be made through any means and the requester need not specify the cause for the request.

Please call 222-5076, email the Public Information Officer, or visit Suite 204 of the Municipal Building located at 425 S. Lexington Ave. in downtown Burlington to make a request for Public Records.
