Many of our department's directives and goals stem from this report and our department continues to work diligently to complete them.

Design Burlington, Burlington's Unified Development Ordinance was passed by the City Council on July 16, 2019. This Development Ordinance goes into effect November 1, 2019 and makes many changes to development standards and allowances going forward. Maple Avenue Corridor
, a two year initiative passed at the June 18, 2019 City Council Meeting outlines a plan for the revitalization of Burlington's Maple Avenue. Stretching from just below Interstate 40/85 to the heart of Burlington's Downtown, this gateway into our City is in need of development and change. The goals of the plan require heavy investment in transportation infrastructure and as a result the City has applied to BUILD Grant through the US Department of Transportation. This grant has the potential for a $25 million award and would greatly affect the City's ability to push the project forward and spur private investment.
