2019 Day Camps
Each Summer Day Camp offers a unique and individual camp experience to participants. Your child will enjoy exciting adventures outdoors, organized games, field trips, and tons more with a caring and responsible staff to lead the way!
Summer Day Camps operate June 17 - August 23, 2019. Camp hours are Monday - Friday from 7:30am – 5:30pm (7:00am – 5:30pm at Fairchild & Grove Park sites - tentative).Camps will be closed for the Independence Day holiday on Thursday, July 4th, 2019.
Registration begins Monday, March 4th, 2019!
Registration must be completed in person with payment at the Burlington Recreation & Parks Main Office (1333 Overbrook Road, Burlington, NC). There are no exceptions for the initial registration process being made in person. Please expect a long wait on the first day of registration.
Day Campers must pay at least one week to secure a space. If paying in full, the complete "10 Week" fee must be paid at time of registration & before June 17, 2019. Payments cannot be made towards the pay in full option. Space is limited.
Registration will remain open until the camp is full. Waiting list will be available once a camp is full. Accounts with outstanding balances will not be allowed to register a child.
WHAT TO BRING TO REGISTER
- Completed 2019 Summer Camp Registration Form (forms are also available at registration)
- Payment to secure a space for weekly or in full
- Required documentation annually:
- a copy of the child's birth certificate
- proof of address (driver's license or current utility bill)
Birth certificates are required to verify a child’s age.
To be eligible for Day Camps: 1) a child must have completed kindergarten AND 2) be 6 years old on or before August 31, 2019.
To be eligible for the Explorers for Teens Camp: 1) child must be a rising 7th grader AND 2) be 12 years old on or before August 31, 2019 and 3) no older than 14 on or before August 31, 2019.

About: Camp Elon utilizes the activity room and park at Beth Schmidt Park, as a partnership with the Town of Elon. The park features a nature trail, disc golf course, playground, and outdoor play areas for the campers.
Fairchild Community Center

About: Camp Fairchild takes place at Fairchild Park. The campers have access to a two softball fields, playground area, tennis courts, greenway, shaded patio, multi-purpose room, & double gym (cooled with fans).
GROVE PARK - FULL

About: As a partnership with the Alamance-Burlington School System, this camp site includes access to an air conditioned gym, blacktop, and open field, as well as the library & cafeteria space for low energy activities.
OVERBROOK - FULL
Burlington City Park - Homebuilder's Building

About: Camp Overbrook offers an outdoor camp experience featuring the Burlington City Park as its backyard. Campers utilize the Homebuilder's Building as its home base, as well as the Jaycee and Exchange buildings for lunch and indoor activities. The campers have access to Field #1, greenway, and outdoor play areas.
ST. MARK'S - FULL
St. Mark's Church

About: As a partnership with the St. Mark's Church, campers utilize the youth activity center, atrium, playground, and an open field next to the church.

EXPLORERS FOR TEENS - FULL

About: A summer day camp for teens to participate in unique activities ranging form kayaking adventures to college tours and educational field trips.
Each camp will participate in a selection of field trips. Week One is our "Get To Know You Week", we do not go on trips during this week in order to get to know the campers before heading out on our adventures. Camp sites that do not feature a gym are scheduled additional trips to recreation facilities with access to gym areas. Outdoor trips are weather pending.
Some of the field trips will include:

- North Park in Motion @ Mayco Bigelow Community Center
- Train Rides @ the Burlington City Park
- Putt-Putt Fun Center
- Swimming @ the Maynard Aquatic Center (weather pending)
- Wet 'n Wild Emerald Pointe (additional cost)*
*The Wet 'n Wild Emerald Pointe trip is an additional cost and not covered in camp fees. Families are encouraged to attend, but must drive separately. Tickets may be purchased at the BRPD Main Office (information will be available at your camp site this summer).

Summer Camp Open House
Saturday, May 18 • 9:00am – 11:00am • Thataways Youth Center – 1331 Overbrook Road, Burlington, NC 27217
Please make plans to join us for the Summer Camp Open House. Each camp will have a table to represent summer at that site! Families can pick up June Calendars & Lunch Menus, as well as ask questions. Registration will also be available that day for the camps that may still have openings (cash or check only). See details above about "registration" and what to bring. Staff will also be on hand to help families complete registration forms and answer questions about Medication Policy Packets.
PAID IN FULL CAMP FEES - ALL 10 WEEKS

WEEKLY CAMP FEES
Day Campers must pay at least one week to secure a space. Weekly payments are due before a child can attend camp. Payments are due by 4:00 pm on the Friday before the week a child attends to be included on the weekly roll sheet. If paying after this time, a hard copy of the receipt must be presented at the sign in table the week of attendance. There is no registration fee or supply fee for the program.

DAY CAMP REFUND POLICY
A full refund will be made to any camper before June 17, 2019. If a camper must withdraw from program during the first week of camp, a 50% refund will be available. After this time, no refunds will be made. In the event of a suspension, refunds will not be given. Refunds may take up to 2-4 weeks to process and will be sent via check to the payee. Payments made with a check may take longer to process. All refund requests must be submitted in writing in advance to the BRPD Main Office.
Camp week transfers may be moved to another week with advance notice. Once the week begins camp week transfers cannot be made. Unused days cannot be transferred to another week. Camp payments cannot be transferred to other Burlington Recreation & Parks programs. No refund will be issued for non-attendance or non-participation in summer camps.
