2020 Day Camps
Each Summer Day Camp offers a unique and individual camp experience to participants. Your child will enjoy exciting adventures outdoors, organized games, field trips, and tons more with a caring and responsible staff to lead the way!
Summer Day Camps operate July 6 - August 7, 2020. Camp hours are Monday - Friday from 7:30am – 5:30pm (7:00am – 5:30pm at Fairchild & Grove Park/Thataways sites).
To make camp possible during the Pandemic, we will be reducing camper attendance numbers and camp sites this summer. The document below includes information regarding site changes and new precautions that Burlington Recreation and Parks will put into place this summer.
NEW: 2020 Summer Day Camp Updates
The following are the site locations we will be offering:
- Camp Grove Park/Thataways (FULL)
- Camp Overbrook (FULL)
- Camp St. Mark’s (FULL)
Due to the feasibility of social distancing and transportation protocols, Camp Elon and Camp Explorer’s will not be operating this summer.
To help prevent the spread of COVID-19 Burlington Recreation and Parks will enforce social distancing, increased cleaning and sanitizing protocols and face masks where necessary.
Before your camper can attend, parents will be asked to provide a signed copy of The City of Burlington’s Liability Wavier Release for Communicable Diseases.
Registration
Registration for 2020 Summer Day Camp is closed.
Please view the "Quick Day Camp Guide" for weekly rates. We will not be offering a paid in full rate for the 5 weeks of camp.

With recent changes in PCI Standard Compliance and to protect information and financial sources, we are no longer permitted to accept over the phone payments for any Burlington Recreation and Parks program. Payments can be made in person at the BRPD Main Office, placed in the drop box after hours or by mail. A payment drop box is located outside the BRPD Main Office for after hour payments (no cash; only check or money orders). Mailed payments must be received prior to the week attending.
WHAT TO BRING TO REGISTER
- Completed 2020 Summer Camp Registration Form (forms are also available at registration)
- Payment to secure a space for weekly or in full
- Required documentation annually:
- a copy of the child’s birth certificate
- proof of address (driver’s license or current utility bill)
Additional Items due before camp begins
- Copy of Custody Documents (if needed)
- Medication Packets
- If your camper will be bringing medication to camp, please download and complete the Medication Policy Packet & Action Plan. Packets may take up to 2 weeks to process if completed correctly and depending on the medication. Packets require the signature of a medical doctor. Packets do not transfer from program to program.
- Due before the start of camp.
AGE REQUIREMENTS
Birth certificates are required to verify a child’s age.
To be eligible for Day Camps: 1) a child must have completed kindergarten AND 2) be 6 years old on or before August 31, 2020.
To be eligible for the Explorers for Teens Camp: 1) child must be a rising 7th grader AND 2) be 12 years old on or before August 31, 2020 and 3) no older than 14 on or before August 31, 2020.

Fairchild Community Center

About: Camp Fairchild takes place at Fairchild Park. The campers have access to a two softball fields, playground area, tennis courts, greenway, shaded patio, multi-purpose room, & double gym (cooled with fans).
GROVE PARK -RELOCATED to thataways youth center -FULL
Grove Park Elementary School

About: As a partnership with the Alamance-Burlington School System, this camp site includes access to an air conditioned gym, blacktop, and open field, as well as the library & cafeteria space for low energy activities.
Mayco
North Park Mayco Bigelow Center 849 Sharpe Rd., Burlington, NC 27215
Enrollment Limit: 40
About: New this summer, Camp Mayco takes place at the North Park Mayco Bigelow Center. Campers will have access to a gym (cooled with fans), a game room equipped with various arcade games, a dance studio, tons of outdoor space and multi-purpose room.
OVERBROOK
Burlington City Park - Homebuilder's Building
1435 Overbrook Road, Burlington, NC 27215
Enrollment Limit: 40
About: Camp Overbrook offers an outdoor camp experience featuring the Burlington City Park as its backyard. Campers utilize the Homebuilder's Building as its home base, as well as the Jaycee and Exchange buildings for lunch and indoor activities. The campers have access to Field #1, greenway, and outdoor play areas.
ST. MARK'S- FULL
St. Mark's Church

About: As a partnership with the St. Mark's Church, campers utilize the youth activity center, atrium, playground, and an open field next to the church.

Field Trips
Due to social distancing limitations and bus sanitizing protocols, we will not be operating field trips this summer.
PAID IN FULL CAMP FEES
There are no paid in full rates for the modified 5 weeks of Summer Day Camp.
WEEKLY CAMP FEES
Weekly payments are due before a child can attend camp. Payments are due by 4:00 pm on the Friday before the week a child attends to be included on the weekly roll sheet. If paying after this time, a hard copy of the receipt must be presented at the sign in table the week of attendance. There is no registration fee or supply fee for the program. We ask that parents consider utilizing all 5 weeks of camp as we will not be able to accept new campers throughout the summer due to sanitizing mandates.
Due to increased staffing needs, cleaning and sanitizing supplies and individual supplies for campers, there will not be a reduction in weekly rates for the 5 weeks of camp.
BURLINGTON CITY RESIDENT / NON-RESIDENT
1st CHILD $70 / $85
ADDITIONAL CHILDREN $60 / $75
DAY CAMP REFUND POLICY
We understand if this year’s modified summer camp won’t meet the needs of your family. If you would like a refund, please submit your request in writing to the Burlington Recreation and Parks Main Office before the start of camp. A full refund will be issued to any camper that cancels before July 6, 2020. If a camper must withdraw from this program during the first week of camp, a 50% refund will be available. After this time, no refunds will be made. In the event of a suspension, refunds will not be given. Refunds may take up to 2-4 weeks to process and will be sent via check to the payee. Payments made with a check may take longer to process.
There will be no camp week transfers. Unused days cannot be transferred to another week. Camp payments cannot be transferred to other Burlington Recreation & Parks programs. No refund will be issued for non-attendance or non-participation in summer camps.
