"Consider a building with a few broken windows... If the windows are not repaired, the tendency is for vandals to break a few more windows.
Eventually, they may even break into the building, and if it's unoccupied, perhaps become squatters or light fires inside."
Burlington may connect the Triad and the Triangle, but closer to home we want to connect Burlington communities, and that’s exactly what the new CBC initiative stands for: CBC is Connecting Burlington Communities.
What began as the city being responsive to questions and concerns over certain areas of town has grown into the idea of a
city-wide initiative that focuses on restoring neighborhoods and enhancing the quality of life in Burlington. This project has been fueled by the ideas and efforts of individuals in all departments of city government, people who want to make a difference.
Purpose
The Connecting Burlington Communities, or CBC, initiative is a comprehensive effort involving City departments, community leaders, and citizens to improve the overall quality of life for Burlington residents. This is an initiative that will continue to evolve and change as different circumstances present themselves.
Strategies to Help Reduce Crime
• Quick replacement of broken windows;
• Control of abandoned vehicles;
• Fast clean-up of illegally dumped items, litter and spilled garbage;
