Mr. Butler is the newest member of the Burlington City Council, sworn in on December 4, 2007. Born in Burlington and actively involved in the community for the past 25 years, Mr. Butler plans to focus in on issues related to both City growth and quality of life. Mr. Butler is 1991 graduate of the Chamber of Commerce sponsored "Leadership Alamance" program. Additionally, he served as Chairman of the Congressional Action Committee of the Chamber of Commerce, Secretary of the Burlington Traffic Commission, and was organizing founder and current board member of VantageSouth Bank. He was also appointed to the Teacher Recruitment and Retention Committee by the Alamance-Burlington School Board.
Councilmember Butler is the Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Stevenson Vestal of Burlington. A 1983 graduate of Eastern Guilford High School, Mr. Butler attended both A&T State University and the University of Alabama where he majored in marketing. He is a graduate of GM-UAM and a graduate of Bank Directors College sponsored by the North Carolina Office of the Commissioner of Banks at the Kenan Flagler School of Business UNC – Chapel Hill. The Councilmember is married with three childred attending Alamance-Burlington Public Schools.
