Lake Mackintosh Park & Marina is one of the newest facilities in the Burlington Recreation and Parks Department, it covers over 1100 acres, is six miles long, and has a shoreline of over 100 miles. Lake Mackintosh was developed in 1991 and has become the primary water reservoir for the citizens of Burlington. Located just outside the city on Huffman Mill Road, the lake not only caters to the fisherman, but also was developed as an overall recreational site for all to enjoy.
The lake is fed by two tributaries, the Greater Alamance and Little Alamance Creeks. These creeks have been the primary source of stocking fish for the lake.
Features of the lake include:
Paddle boat rentals
Picnic sites
Pier / bank fishing
Playground
Open-air picnic shelter available for rentals
Lakeside rental clubhouse which overlooks the lake
Row boat rentals
Sailing
Six boat ramps
Because the lake is the primary water reserve for the City of Burlington, there is no swimming, wading, skiing, or personal watercraft permitted on the Lake.
Fees and charges for usage at Lake Mackintosh conform to the other lakes in our operation. All rentals are taken on site.
